Did you know not all cups are truly recyclable?

Did you know not all cups are truly recyclable?

Our mission is to find a long-term viable solution for recycling paper cups. As all paper cups are made from strong cellulose fibres, the material can be recycled up to 7 times*. So, instead of sending cups to landfill or compost, they can be re-purposed into other paper or cardboard products over and over.

PLA lined cups are made from natural, sustainable materials but unfortunately the commercial facilities for the processing of these cups are limited. Which means an alarming number of these cups are never composted and end up in landfill.

The common paper cup is lined with a membrane of plastic (PE) to make it waterproof. This means they’re NOT easily recyclable in common recycling streams. PE cups are simply re-routed to rubbish, and are causing a significant impact to the volume of landfill in Australia and New Zealand.

Why you should choose a RecycleMe™ cup

Detpak has partnered with Smart Planet Technologies to offer a newly engineered, mineral based lining exclusive for trial in Australia and New Zealand. The lining technology will make the recycling process even easier.

That’s big news for our environment.
